CHC Helicopters Australia are looking to appoint a Manager Flight Operations /Chief Pilot based in Perth, Western Australia.

Reporting locally to the Regional Director and globally to the Director of Flight Standards, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated group of Pilots and Aircrew operating from multiple locations around Australia and East Timor. As the nominated Post holder of Flight Operations / Chief Pilot for the Australian AOC, you will deliver a high standard of safety and operational excellence, with a focus on promoting a Just Culture and support a continuous process of improvement. This role is a key interface for the organisation with CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority).

Working in collaboration with the Australian Senior Leadership team, the role ensures that all CHC aviation operations fully meet the safety and service delivery standards expected by regulators and internal and external customers. A strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and the ability to operate as part of a team are essential.

CHC Helicopters Australia operates multiple types including S92, EC225, AS332, AW139, EC145, B412 and the S76 in a diverse range of operations including SAR, EMS and Offshore support. Holding the majority of these endorsements will be considered advantageous.

A visible safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in CHC safety culture and behaviour.
Leads by example and drives results through a disciplined and focussed approach.
Control over all flight crew training and operational matters affecting the safety of the flying operations.
Liaison with Regulator and ensures CHC compliance with all appropriate rules and CASA regulations.
Responsible for the overall leadership of Managerial direct reports.
Builds team capabilities by developing self and others to deliver.
Responsible for implementation and ongoing upkeep of the CHC Flight Operations Safety Management System.
Champion of cohesive change and a visible leader of all global and regional initiatives relating to Safety, business KPIs, people, finance and integrity at all levels.
Develops highly effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders internal and external (global, regional ,regulators, employee groups and trade unions).
Achieves cohesion by linking teams, customers and stakeholders where required in order to deliver best results within a One CHC environment.
Assumes Chair of any Occurrence Review Boards.
Oversees all people processes relating to talent management of Flight Operations.
Takes the role of operational manager in union negotiations and grievances supported by Human Resources.
Active contributor to the business planning and budgeting processes, educating the direct report teams on the desired results, periodically assess the performance versus actual, and identify deviations and measures to effectively address.

Essential Criteria for the Role:
An Australian ATPL (H) and Class One Medical.
CASA approval (or ability to obtain) to act as Chief Pilot.
Command Instrument Rating with 8 renewals multi-engine.
Total time helicopters not less than 4000 flight hours including:
- 3000 hours total command
- 1200 hours command in multi-engine Helicopters
- 200 hours night, and
- 200 hours instrument flight time.
Previous experience as an offshore and/or SAR pilot with rating on multiple types presently operated by CHC Australia.
Proven leadership experience and results at middle and senior management level.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to influence all internal stakeholders and external bodies recognising cultural, legal and regional diversity.
Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
Comprehensive understanding of key business drivers from both an operational and commercial perspective.
Demonstrated working knowledge and experience of financial and budget planning processes.

**Consideration will be given to overseas ATPL (H) holders with CHC Australia aircraft type endorsements.

Desirable Experience:
Previous experience as a Chief Pilot.
Instructor and/or examiner rating on one or more of CHC Australia active types.
NVG Endorsement and commensurate experience.
Knowledge and/or experience in safety and quality systems and risk management.
Sound knowledge of Human Factors, Crew Resource Management, Fatigue Risk Management. Systems, Safety Management Systems and Flight Operations Quality Assurance Systems.
Post graduate management qualification an advantage.
