Job Title - Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI)

Reporting to - Local Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (LCTKI)

The TKI is responsible for preparing and delivering technical instruction to pilots. The instructor is responsible for maintaining their own competence and expertise on their specific fleet/s. It is expected that the instructor will be, or will develop towards becoming, a subject matter expert in at least two types of aircraft.



Supervision and monitoring of Computer Based Training.
Completion of Technical Logs, Defect Reports, Training Forms and Company Records in accordance with defined standards and guidelines.
Support the cluster Training Organization and participate in cluster projects as delegated by LCTKI/ Local Head of Training.
Liaison with Training Administration / Scheduling / Management regarding course organization.
Conduct administrative duties as delegated by LCTKI/ Local Head of Training.

Preparation and deliverance of technical instruction to pilots.
Management of Flight Training Devices and other resources to deliver practical training in procedures and systems.
Preparation and delivery of customer specific operational procedures (SOPs) as requested by the customer / airline.
Training in adherence to the relevant approved training manual & schedule.
Provision of briefings for examination / progress tests.
Delivery of flight planning, performance, mass/balance classroom training of the fleets assigned.
Provide subject matter expertise in the creation or modification of lessons, training materials & training devices.
Maintenance and improvement of course materials, study guides, lesson plans and course manuals.
Achieving and maintaining the highest possible training standards as directed.
Reporting to management any deviation from standard procedures or training standards.
Assessing any students identified as being below the acceptable standard.

Other duties may be assigned.


Type rated or equivalent experience.
Appropriate Maintenence training qualifications or relevant experience.
Performance Instruction experience.
Experience and / or qualification in using facilitation in training (e.g. Core Course Qualification)
Relevant airline / flying operations knowledge, gained through engineering and / or flying experience.
Posesses and demonstrates the required level of knowledge of rules, aircraft systems and operating procedures.
Working knowledge of the relevant regulatory rules and guidelines including a working knowledge of EU OPS / EASA Part OPS / Part FCL / JAR 147.
Proficient in the standard Microsoft Office suite as needed (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Excellent instructional skills together with an excellent technical and operational knowledge of the aircraft types on which s/he instructs.
Excellent communication skills with patience and ability to motivate students to learn.
A logical structured approach to training.
Shows evidence of good preparation to ensure all relevant training aids and materials are available.

Adequate technical and or operational training.


Adequate technical and or operational experience.

Training Cluster

Occasional travel to training centres within the training cluster area.
Fluent English language skills (verbal and in writing).
