Job Summary
Captains are responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. Captains report directly to the chief pilot. When assigned to a flight, the captain has the final authority in the operation of the aircraft. Captains must ensure compliance with all Federal, state, local and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual. Captains are the company’s most visible representative to the passengers and must act with tact and decorum while ensuring an efficient and safe operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Captain
Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been assigned.
Wear company issued uniform and comply with uniform policy.
Comply with schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
Operate assigned aircraft in accordance with Aircraft Flight Manual and all Company manuals.
Ensure that preflight inspections are performed.
Perform all company assigned duties in accordance with company manuals, memos, and policies.
Conduct diligent preflight planning and prepare flight plans.
Providing excellent customer service to passengers.
Complying with schedules, and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
Ensuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers.
Reviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts.
Using checklists.
Supervise the first officer and flight attendant in any duties necessary for smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft.
Coordinate the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flight.
Monitor crew performance, share knowledge, and evaluate their potential for advancement.
Make decisions necessary to start, delay or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
Remain technically proficient and knowledgeable on assigned aircraft.
Remain knowledgeable on FAR’s, Ops Specs, and AIM procedures.
Assist with the training of new hire and upgrading crew members.
Handling of passenger baggage and cargo.
Assist passengers with their ground transportation needs.
Revision of published material.
Maintain type rating requirements in assigned aircraft.
Education and Professional Experience
Associates Degree
ATP License with CL-600 type rating and 1st Class Medical
6,000 Hours Total Flight Time
3,500 Hours Pilot in Command
2,000 Hours Turbojet
International flight experience
Large cabin aircraft experience
